All tourist hotels seem to offer at least a few options for fitness and recreation. In fact, some hotel complexes seem more like health clubs than anything else these days. But if you're looking for still other alternatives, consider these possibilities.

JOGGING

Check with the concierge at your hotel about local jogging routes. One of the most popular spots around town is the network of paths in and around the senayan sports complex near the Semanggi Interchange. You'll find runners of every age, size and degree of fitness there each morning around sunrise and again between 4:00 and 6:00 PM. Show up on Sunday morning and treat yourself to some of the city's tastiest bubur ayam{Chicken Porridge}served by roving vendors.

DIVING

Though the diving in the waters surrounding the Thousand Islands resorts is somewhat less wonderful than that available elsewhere in Indonesia, many of the Pulau Seribu resorts do have dive shops which rent equipment and lead excursions.
